Removable Drives with the Acorn Card (A540)
------------------------------------
The SyQuest drives have some timing problems when
being accessed by the Acorn SCSI card (release 2).
To overcome this problem the 'disconnect' command
must be inhibited for the SyQuest drive.
This disc contains two utilities which will help you
to do this:
ScsiDM This is a pre-beta release of Acorn's
ScsiDM program which provides a 'disconnect'
command when a device has been selected.
disconnect shows the current status
disconnect on allows disconnection
disconnect off inhibits disconnection
disconnect This program will inhibit disconnection of
a specified SCSI drive given its device ID.
For example: *disconnect 1 will inhibit
for SCSI device ID 1 (usually drive 5).
This disc also contains a boot file which calls the
disconnect utility for device ID 1. You can alter the
!DeskStart file using !Edit to specify the required
device ID.
If you do not already have a boot file, alter the device
ID as above, put the !Boot application onto your internal
drive and then type:
*SCSI <return>
*Mount 4 <return>
*Opt 4,2 <return>
*Configure FileSystem scsi <return>
*Configure SCSIFSDrive 4 <return>
If you already have a boot file, copy the disconnect
program into the !Boot directory and then add the
following line to the start of your !DeskStart file:
Run <Obey$Dir>.disconnect 1
